Muskan

Last year, Muskan was hoping to move out of the country. She had a plan and a job all lined up… and was devastated when it didn’t end up working out.

Who can relate to things not going as planned? Sometimes, when our plans are interrupted, change abruptly, or completely fall through, the discouragement can be overwhelming. Sometimes it can even be paralyzing and we find ourselves not knowing how to move on or to move forward. To anyone who may be experiencing things “not going as planned” Muskan says “Don’t to lose hope. I did for a moment when my visa got denied; it felt like there was no other purpose in life other than that. But as time passed, it’s not like that, life goes on in spite of things not going as planned, and other good opportunities await.”

Muskan eventually accepted her current position at Become, and has been learning and growing ever since. If you’ve ever worked in a startup, you understand the fluidity of roles and responsibilities. Muskan, an experienced Barista, took a position as the head of hospitality and along with the company, has pivoted and grown. With no prior know-how, she learned to bake and decorate sugar cookies and is absolutely knocking it out of the park every time a custom order comes in. When the Hospitality trainer left, she took on another role and now spends fifteen hours a week teaching and training students. She’s been learning how to develop lesson plans, how to effectively teach girls from backgrounds of hardship, and how to manage the classroom efficiently. Her job even led to her first overseas excursion and she attended a professional conference in Thailand. She’s gained new relationships, and new experiences both personally and professionally. Muskan is blossoming as a leader and from her own experience of life “not going as planned” is better able to care for and relate to the girls that she mentors. Although this isn’t the place she saw herself being a year ago, she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else, and is beginning to see that God is in control and that his plans are good.

Do you find yourself currently navigating some of life’s curve balls, or in the middle of a pivot? What might God be doing and what other good opportunities might await you? What can you say yes to today in faith that God is in control and that his plans are good?

Thanks for reading this episode of Strong and Inspiring Women. I hope Muskan’s example and advice are encouraging.
