OK, everyone keeps congratulating us on “finally getting our girl”. We really weren’t “trying” to get a girl… we just wanted another baby. I will admit that I wanted a daughter, and did pray for one… But I did grow up in a house of four children, my aunt and uncle have four and my grandma had four too; I always wanted (at least) four of my own. I (we) would have been just as excited about another boy… in fact I was getting quite used to the idea of it because I was certain that I was carrying another boy. God though, he blessed and surprised us with a daughter.
Having a baby girl has been quite different from our boys…
Changing her diaper was actually kind of awkward at first. I suppose had we had three daughters and then a boy, that would have felt awkward too. Shopping has been really fun (at least for me)! Pink is so much cuter than blue (I’m just sayin). Using nick-names like sweet-pea and pumpkin isn’t so “unmanly” for hubby any more. Dilemmas such as ear-piercing have come up (things we never realized we didn’t see eye-to-eye on). I can now relate to the pressure hubby feels about being a good role model to his sons (oh my gosh, this little girl will be learning from me what it means to be a mother and wife). The boys brought a Care Bear to the hospital for their sister… I am so excited about playing games and with toys that I can relate to!
Different for sure, but wonderful in every way!
