We’re on-site in Nepal learning how to use our first embroidery machine, training production staff on our sewing machines, and taking orders for custom patches and embroidery projects. Stay tuned for an update on our ethically made trucker caps available for custom and wholesale ordering.
We spent months trying to produce and sell various handicrafts in Nepal to generate revenue and sustain our training center, but the market is saturated and we never found our niche. After prayer, and some networking, we took a leap, and without any previous experience in manufacturing are tackling the production of trucker caps and embroidery projects. With several interested purchasers and a couple of prototypes, we expect to be in full production by the end of this month.
This manufacturing venture:
- Creates another career training path at Become for individuals interested in tailoring jobs
- Will provide opportunities for financial stability and thus allow Become to continue to serve, train, and empower our targeted demographic
- Provides ethical job opportunities in Nepal for marginalized individuals who may have experienced trauma, trafficking, or other hardships
- Will provide opportunities to expand programs at Become by creating more capacity in the classroom, providing additional hands-on learning experiences, and the ability to hire and fill key roles in the Nepal office
