Thankful Thursday
Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! Psalm 100:3-4
We had been out and arrived home after dark. Dad wasn’t with us. Someone must have left the front door open, because when we pulled up to the dark house we could see right into the living where the light was on. I definitely felt afraid. But before I could even say a word, or even got the car into park, Brice said “let’s pray mommy, before we go inside”. We sat there in the car and he asked God for “no one to be in the house”. Later that evening we were hanging out on the bed and Brice suddenly got quiet. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that he wanted to pray so that he could tell God thank you for taking care of us.
Although it can only be known between him and God, I am pretty sure that Brice (who will be seven in February) has accepted Christ. So, as you might imagine, I have something pretty awesome to be thankful for. Brice’s salvation is such a huge victory for the kingdom. Thinking about the life I once had and the generations of unbelief, I am so thankful for God’s love and grace, that He would bless my family with Himself. That He would give us new lives. Brice was just under three years old when my life was changed and I began my walk with the Lord. It is amazing and humbling for me to think about all that God has done in my life to prepare a way that my son would come to know Him. How much He must love him.
It has been a blessing to see evidence in Brice’s life. He will tell you with no inhibitions that God made him and loves him. He will ask you with a beautiful innocence if you know Jesus. Unprompted and seemingly at random he will sit and read his “early readers” Bible and he gets so excited about the stories. And his prayers are so innocent and uninhibited. He has been an inspiration to my selfish heart. And I am thankful for that too.
