What is one thing or cause that you are passionate about? (More specifically, something you feel that the Lord has burdened your heart with?)
I get pretty passionate about a lot of things (I’m kind of a jump in full throttle kinda gal)… youth ministry, homeschooling my children, singing, working with teen parents or struggling parents of teens, writing, martyred missionaries, single moms (and now going green)… Whatever it is I’m speaking out for or involved in though, God always reminds me that my family comes first. I’m not always good at it, and I don’t always make the right decisions, but my family is my first passion. Becoming the godly wife that God has called me to be for my hubby and the mother that He has created me to be for my kids is top priority. God has shown me that no matter what else I do, being Stephen’s wife and mothering my kids is something no one else in the world but me can do, and He has definitely burdened my heart with the desire to do it well. To be a good helpmate, wisely building my home and speaking in wisdom and kindness. Not only has He given me the passion, but the blueprints too! So many scriptures come to mind…
Proverbs 14:1
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
Proverbs 31: 10-31
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life…
Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
1 Peter 3:1-6
…Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight…
Proverbs 22:6
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
