Let it all hang out

What is one thing that you absolutely love about friendships? Why? On the other side, what is one thing that you find absolutely difficult when it comes to friendships? Why?

I love that you can share anything with a friend. You can just let it all hang out… the good, the bad and the ugly. I love that you can laugh with a friend (I mean those uncontrollable giggles as if you were back in high school together). I love that you can share life with a friend; the sorrows and the joys. I love that my friends pray with me and for me. I love that even when I think I am, I’m not so alone. I love that God has made us for relationships. And I love that He provides us with relationships/friendships (and sometimes in the most unlikely places).

– Oops, that was more than one thing. –

Despite how great a thing friendship is… friendships can be so challenging to maintain. They take time (enough said, right). I can get so caught up in my own life and kids and seriously not speak to another soul all week. Maintaining friendships has to be deliberate, I have to make and schedule TIME (both with and without the rug rats). And let me tell you, that can be difficult.

    Amen, sista! So true, so true. Girlfriends are the best and so things….a blessing really. But, like any relationship, you have to put in the work to maintain them and help them grow! True friendships–my dad always said that you will have many acquaintances in your life, but if you have true friends that you can count on one hand, then you are blessed!!And all those nesting instincts going on?? Maybe the time is nearer than you think!!I wonder–I was looking for the Internet Cafe question for this week and I didn’t receive it.     Okay, on your point about the hardest part is maintaining friendships…AMEN on that!I do the same thing…get so wrapped up in every day living that I get tunnel vision. It takes a very deliberate effort on my part to feed a friendship. But boy, is it worth it! 🙂

    Maintenance sure is difficult. Thank God he gave us voicemail and internet and answering machines, so we can at least leave little tidbits for friends when we don’t have time for more. At least the crumbs can leave a trail back to a time of togetherness.
