Bird poop and relationships

I already posted this morning, but came across Thankful Thursday and couldn’t resist…

It’s my kidos who continually remind me of what it truly means to be thankful. I am reminded of how thankful Brice once was for bird poop; while driving to Texas we pulled into a rest stop where hundreds of birds swarmed overhead and the sidewalk was covered in white droppings, which that bright-eyed little boy found to be utterly fascinating. That evening in his prayers, he mentioned the poop. My children’s prayers are always filled with gratitude for the simplicities of life and they always remember EVERYONE. Maybe it’s an attempt to stall bedtime… but they list mom and dad, each other, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, friends, Sunday school teachers, the boy we met at the park, the lady who talked to them in the grocery store and the young man at the McDonald’s drive-thru. People I often take for granted. Today, as reminded by my kids, I am thankful for every relationship God brings into my life. And I pray that I would treat each person with thankfulness and appreciation.

How sweet! My daughter once prayed for her walls. I thought it was strange until someone pointed out to me that there are lots of children in this world that don’t have walls to call their own. WOW! The things we take for granted, huh…

You just have to love the little ones!! They always remind me that this is how we are to come to our Lord, as little children–full of innocence, full of trust, full of honesty, full of unconditional love for others. I co-teach the preschool (2 year old) class at my church, and every week, I leave that class feeling blessed by them. They always help me to try to maintain that perspective on my life–be thankful for all the little things–Beth
