Over the fourth of July weekend we took a trip to Des Moines and visited the zoo. The boys had a ton of fun that weekend, and it was neat for them to see all the animals! They still talk about the elephants that danced and they were even pretty impressed by the peacock we got to see up close on the side of the walkway.

For me, the experience was quite amusing. Being at the zoo was much like being in my own living room. The monkeys were picking at each other. The sea lions swam around and around and around and around… The atmosphere was noisy. And there was a “funky smell” that lingered in the air.
