Healing Your Soul Part One

In our first edition HEALING YOUR SPIRIT, we discovered the foundation of recovery was identity. Knowing we are daughters of God, fully loved, accepted, and valued no matter what we do. Seeing God as our papa not our judge is the key to building an intimate relationship with Him.

In this edition we are looking at healing the soul. What is the soul? The soul is our mind, will, and emotions. Our soul is also referred to as our heart or a piece of our heart. This is an important fact to know when it comes to healing; our heart is complicated, made up of our mind, will, and emotions. I can see why God teaches us to guard it! The heart in scripture is described as the very center and core of life, the heart is who we are, the real self, the real me. This is why I believe it is the most important part of us to heal, everything flows out of it, if there is darkness in there; it will flow to every area of your life.

The bible clearly talks about us thinking with our hearts, it also talks about renewing this thinking when we are born again. For this reason I will start this edition with healing the mind. Our mind is a very powerful tool; it directs the brain and the body. What we believe we become. For this reason looking into your beliefs is an important part of healing your soul. Dr Caroline Leaf says our brains are not hard wired or fixed; if you wired in negative thinking, you can wire it back out again! Many people don’t realise the impact of our thinking on our whole bodies. Research shows that what you think alters the way you feel and then alters your behavior. The cycle of think – feel – act. Having a basic understanding of this cycle can help dramatically when you find yourself behaving out of your control. Important questions to ask yourself:

What am I telling myself?

How is it impacting my feelings?

Could changing my thoughts stop the behavior?

God spoke your name; your faith began with His voice. Nothing happens in the Kingdom unless it is spoken, declared, or created through God’s words. Bill Johnson

Declaration of truth over your life releases power over your circumstances. Speak, declare, and sing your truth over yourself every day.

‘You’re a good good Father

It’s who you are, it’s who you are

And I’m loved by you

It’s who I am, it’s who I am’

Housefires, good good Father

Part of knowing our identity is declaring it, speaking it, and walking it out. Start your day with these affirmations; come back to them every couple of hours, remembering who you are, whose you are, and that you’re loved by Him. If you find yourself feeling frustrated, sad, or overwhelmed; ask yourself ‘what lie do I believe?’ Replace it with the truth; replace it with God’s love, and the truth of your purpose. God created every person for a purpose, once you know your purpose the enemy will attack your confidence in this area.

We are complicated beings, made up of so many different parts, made in the image of a God who is complex. God made us like Him so who better to talk to about the condition of our mind! He knows the areas of your thinking that are unhelpful, ask Him. Let Him speak into your mind and your situation, no one knows you like your papa, He knows every inch of your heart, and loves every inch of your heart.

Much Love,
