Strength And Dignity

The foundation of recovery

is to practice unconditional acceptance and Love with yourself

Strength And Dignity was founded by Melanie, a survivor of child sexual assault, and advocate for social justice. Strength And Dignity is a ministry built for the purpose of creating a positive place for survivors to come and feel empowered to heal. We believe survivors of childhood trauma can heal and find hope for their future. Our aim is to help facilitate that healing through encouraging a journey of processing the pain. This journey can be daunting and scary, a process that cannot be done alone, and requires support. Strength And Dignity’s team of volunteers offer that support through training and education. Our volunteers along with our founder are passionate about seeing women free from the grips of their past.

Strength And Dignity advocates against the myths surrounding child sexual assault; exposing the real raw truth of this epidemic in hope that we can save children from abuse, empower perpetrators to stop the behavior, and educate our community.

One in three girls

 One in six boys

Are sexually assaulted before the age of eighteen in Australia.

80% are perpetrated by a family member.

We believe education is the best weapon against this war on our communities. Giving people the information they need to protect their children and children within their church community.

In 2016 Victorian Police saw a 9.2% increase in sexual offences since 2015. 12,956 sexual offences were reported to the police in 2016.

Over the past five years, the number of offences reported to the police has continued to increase.

These reported offences do not include the many women and children who do not report offences.

We believe the work of Strength And Dignity is more important than ever – as we see reports released of numerous offences covered up by the church through The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses To Child Sexual Abuse. Now more than ever the world needs the church to stand up and lead the way in child protection. Together we need to end the cover up of child sexual assault within the church, and create a space for women and children to feel safe to tell the truth.

As Strength And Dignity step into the vision God has given us, we plan to help facilitate the change of how we as a church body respond, support, and help to heal survivors of sexual assault.
